Everything you need to know before your charter with Captain David.

The maximum number of passengers I'm licensed to take is six. However, all the pricing is based on 4 people. Because of the extra work involved with 5 or 6 people, there is a $75 charge for each person after 4.

We only take out your group. Although the maximum is six people, we take a lot of charters that are 2-4 people.

No. I purchase an annual fishing license for the state waters of Florida and Georgia. This license covers everyone fishing on my boat.

We supply everything that you need to go fishing, including the bait, rods and reels. We also have a large cooler with clean ice to store what food and drinks you bring.

You can wear whatever is comfortable for you that will be appropriate for the weather (you will be outside) that day. If you are not sure, dressing in layers is a good idea. We would also recommend a hat and sunglasses. For your feet, closed toed shoes (sneakers) seem to work the best for everyone, but they are not required.

Anything that you want to eat or drink, sunscreen, and a camera (most people use their phone). We do not allow any hard alcohol or glass bottles. We also ask that you not bring any bananas on the boat (the captain can explain that old superstition when you are on the boat).

If it is too rough or raining, I don't want to go out either. We will always check in with you if the weather is questionable to see if we can figure something out.

If you are over the age of 21, you can bring beer or seltzers with you. We do not allow any glass containers or hard alcohol.

The Ring Money has an enclosed head (which is what you call a bathroom on a boat) for you to use.

If you get seasick, you should not be embarrassed. It happens to some people, including experienced fishermen. If you are feeling ill or are getting sick, just let me know and we will do what we can to make you more comfortable. Some people find that the "seasick bands" that you wear on your wrists help.

Sometimes, depending on the size of the group or the fish we are after, I will have a mate to help out. Most of the time I take care of everyone myself. Since the Ring Money is a center console boat with a trolling motor, it is easy for me to take care of everyone.

If we are catching species of fish that we can keep (the rules are different depending on the fish and the time of year) we will put what you want to keep in the cooler (we have a dedicated fish cooler) to take back to shore. When the charter is done, we will clean the fish for you and send you home with filets ready to cook.

Tips are always appreciated, especially if you think we did a good job.

Yes. We take out people that have never fished before and people that have been on the ocean hundreds of times. We will teach you everything you need to know when you are on the boat. Don't worry if you do not have experience — it is our job to show you what to do, make you comfortable, and show you a good time.

The "Ring Money" is docked at Egan's Creek Marina, 1620 North 14th Street.

The goal is to leave the dock at the scheduled time, so please arrive 5-10 minutes early to get everything ready and loaded.
